GFC Principles
Grace Fellowship Church exists to exalt God by making disciples of Christ through His grace. We dedicate ourselves to build up every member “until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature.”
We believe that God has revealed Himself and His grace in the Scriptures. Therefore, we gladly submit every area of life to them. The Scriptures completely mold our world view, teaching, theology, counseling, activities, programs, and everything else about us.
Grace
Our relationship with God through its beginning, development, and completion is completely by grace through faith alone. By grace God “made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions.” By grace the Lord calls us to repent of the sin that still indwells us. By grace He transforms us into His image over time until we stand perfected before Him in heaven. We never grow out of our need for God’s grace; it is the way we know God and become more like Him.
We seek to minister God’s grace to the heart in all our relationships. We extend His grace by patiently working to know each other at the heart level, by speaking the truth in love, and by constantly pointing each other to Christ. Our goal is that “no one misses the grace of God.”
Fellowship
By His grace God brings us into fellowship with Him and with each other. We assume that any believer in Christ who regularly attends our fellowship wants to be part of our body and under the authority of our Elders.
We are a tight-knit fellowship committed to serving God together. As we “look not only to our own interests, but also the interests of others,” we care for each other. We also call every member to actively labor in the church. Because the ministry of the church occurs through all of our members, the spiritual growth and maturity of each member is key. As a fellowship we have banded together to humbly help each member grow into mature disciples of Christ.
Church
Grace Fellowship Church serves the Lord as a local assembly of His body in State College, PA. We seek fraternal relations with other churches for mutual edification and accountability.
Because we are located in a transient community, God gives us a unique opportunity to impact the world for Christ. As God works through us to make disciples of Christ, He often calls our members to other places. Whether in State College or in the remotest parts of the world, our church embraces God’s call to be the salt of the earth and the light of the world.
